In March 2005, a federation agreement was signed by the GIP International Office (GIP-Hilversum, The Netherlands), GIP-Sofia (Bulgaria), GIP-Tbilisi (Georgia) and GIP-Vilnius (Lithuania), regulating the interaction between these organizations. A GIP country office in Tajikistan, established later, is also a member of the GIP network.

Each regional center is guided by its own regional board. The GIP International federation of organizations and the International Office (GIP-Hilversum) and Tajik office are governed by the GIP General Board.

GIP promotes humane, ethical, and effective mental health care throughout the world and supports a global network of individuals and organizations to develop, advocate for, and carry out the necessary reforms.
