After successful initial event in Budapest 2012 March, the second CARe Europe 2013 Seminar: REFOCUS; TRANSFORMATION OF SERVICES IN A NEW ERA will take place in Tallinn, Estonia on the 7th - 8th of May, 2013.
A keynote speaker Professor Geoff Shepherd will share his 30 years of experience in changing mental health care into community care, psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery support. The main focus of his speech will be: how to make organisational changes? What are the key elements which make old systems turn around?

At 30 and 31 March 2012 an interesting conference will take place in the beautiful centre of Budapest. This meeting is organised by CARe Europe in collaboration with Elte University and Global Initiative on Psychiatry.

At the conference knowledge will be shared about the transition of institutional care towards community care (and the role of professional training and education).
28 March is dedicated to rehabilitation and recovery oriented care according to the CARe Approach. 29 March is a conference which provides an overview of developments throughout Europe. It is also possible to attend either one of both days.

On October 14th 2010, during World Mental Health week, GIP organized a conference at the European Parliament in Brussels. The conference was the final activity of a two year EU project titled: Increasing Recognition of Mental Heath as an Integral Part of European Development Assistance in Four EU Countries. The goal of the project was to raise awareness in four countries of the European Union (as well as at the EU-level and among other development actors) about mental health as a developmental aid issue.
GIP also celebrated her 30th anniversary at this event!

Program 13.30 – 16.00 hours:
The key speaker Florence Baingana (psychiatrist and public health specialist from Uganda) will talk about mental health projects in low-income countries. Robert van Voren (director GIP) will share the successes and failures of 30 years development aid and Willem van der Put (director HealthNet TPO) will present his complete film 'Psychiatry unchained'. Finally the outcome of the essays will be presented and the winners will be announced! The winning team will visit a mental health project in Burundi.

ARCHIVE 2007
A GIP conference entitled "Double Stigma - Double Challenge": Putting Mental Health and HIV/AIDS on the International Agenda, was held on 9 November 2007 in The Hague. The conference served as a venue for a lively discussion about the inter-linkages between HIV/AIDS and mental health in Africa, the Caucasus, Central Asia and Southeastern Europe.
